Our Class Contract
After our first few days together, we, the undersigned, have discussed and agreed that the following statements are important in the cultivation of a brave space that values our individualism and works toward the collective success of each other’s education.
-
Our classroom is a BRAVE SPACE. This means:
-
We are here to cheer one another on and face their fears
-
We are here to respect each other’s individuality and road to self-discovery
-
We are here to embrace vulnerability, knowing that is how we most authentically grow
-
We are here to work in teams and pull our own weight tapping into our unique talents
-
We are here to find, hone, and use our voices. They are valid, important, and valued in this space.
-
We are here to contribute, not to sit by and let the learning pass us by
-
-
While we are here to make connections and thrive as human beings, our primary academic focus of this course is to learn. This requires focus and hard work. That said:
-
We agree that cell phone use is primarily a distraction. We are trusted to manage our own devices like adults. Repeated misuse, malicious, or any other behavior that prevents another student from learning is not acceptable. We understand that in this case, we will be asked to use the charging station.
-
Some days, we will nail all of the above. Other days, we’ll be working on building up some strength. Some days will just be bad days. Period.
We agree to:
-
TRY. Every day we will try to uphold our class values.
-
CARE. Every day and everyone matters.
-
COMMUNICATE. Every day we will share our thoughts and think out loud
