Teacher's Assistants
Teacher assistants work with teachers to facilitate learning in elementary and EC classrooms across the district. Most TA positions include bus driving duties as well.
In order to qualify for a teacher's assistant position, you must complete one of the following:
- An associate’s degree from an accredited institution;
- 48 semester hours from an accredited institution;
- Or meet district WorkKeys test score requirements.
Our bus drivers are responsible for transporting students to and from school, and our mechanics ensure that our fleet of nearly 240 buses are always running smoothly. Bus drivers and mechanics must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and mechanics are highly recommended to have the appropriate certifications.
School NutritionSchool Nutrition employees prepare and serve wholesome, delicious meals to students across the county for breakfast and lunch each day. Most begin as substitutes and move quickly into part-time School Nutrition assistant positions.
Custodians & MaintenanceOur custodial and maintenance staff keeps our schools and other facilities clean, safe and functional. This department includes a wide variety of employees – from HVAC mechanics to carpenters to custodians. Our maintenance staff must have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as any appropriate certifications.
Clerical & OfficeThe Rowan-Salisbury School System’s clerical and office positions are scattered across the district in schools and of offices around the county and include front desk secretaries, data managers, financial secretaries, HR specialists and more. These employees must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, and associate's degrees are often preferred.
