Overview of Community-Driven Redesign
-
While Knox Middle School is being rebuilt, we’re also redesigning how students will learn and grow in the new building. Our goal is to ensure that Overton-Knox students have exciting, meaningful, and fair learning experiences.
To make this happen, we’re working with Transcend Education, an organization that helps schools create learning environments that meet the needs of all students. Together, we’ve formed a team of students, staff, parents, and community members to shape the future of Knox.
Transcend Education partners with schools and families to design innovative, research-based learning experiences. Their focus is on making schools engaging, inclusive, and ready for the future—helping every child succeed academically and socially.
We’re excited about this journey and look forward to sharing more with you soon!
What are we designing?
-
As we plan for the new Knox Middle School, we are working together as a community to shape what learning will look like for our students. This community-driven design process will help us ensure that the experiences and outcomes for Overton-Knox students are meaningful and engaging, and set them up for success.
To guide this work, we will be creating:
- Case for Change – A clear explanation of why Knox is evolving and the vision for its future.
- Mission Statement – A statement that defines the purpose of the Overton-Knox campus and its role in supporting students and the community.
- Graduate Aims – The key skills, knowledge, and abilities we want all students to develop at the new Knox.
- Design Principles – The core values and priorities that will shape how learning happens at Knox.
- Student Experience 1 – A powerful, defining experience that brings our mission, Graduate Aims, and Design Principles to life for all students.
- Student Experience 2 – Another key experience that helps ensure all students benefit from our shared vision for the new Knox.
This process is about building a school that truly meets the needs of our students and community.
