Ms. Gary's Scholarship Tips (click down arrow ->)
All listings will share the following:
Name of the Scholarship or Award
Description of the scholarship, who is eligible to apply, and other info important for applicants
Application Process/requirements
Deadline & Submission Process
Many scholarships applications will open early in the spring semester.
The majority of scholarships shared with our school are local scholarships.
(Local scholarships have a much smaller pool of applicants than those open to students state- or nation-wide.)
Completed applications should be as neat as possible. Preferably, they should be typed. If you must complete an application form by hand, ensure that your writing is legible.
DO NOT COMPLETE APPLICATIONS IN PENCIL. Often scholarship committees make copies of applications for their members to review.

Scholarships are one form of financial aid.
What is financial aid? Financial aid is money that is given or borrowed to help pay for college. It can come from federal, state, local, school and private entities. North Carolina and the federal government award millions of dollars each year to help students pay for college. Complete the FAFSA to be considered for financial aid.
*FAFSA CHANGES*
The 'Better FAFSA' (FAFSA 2024-25) will not be open until December 2023. Until then, make sure you have an FSA ID created for yourself & a parent.
Go to studentaid.gov to create your FSA ID.
Financial aid awards can be comprised of scholarships, grants, loans, and work study.
Scholarships & grants do not have to be repaid.
