Welcome!
Welcome to Landis Elementary!
We are so excited to welcome you and your child to our school community! Below you will find information that will help you as you plan for kindergarten.
Enrollment information: All students must have the following in order to enroll:
PROOF OF DOMICILE: This can be shown by way of a power bill, phone bill, rental/lease agreement or purchase agreement. Please make sure that parents’ and/or guardians’ name and street address are visible.
BIRTH CERTIFICATE/SOCIAL SECURITY: If your child is enrolling in kindergarten or this is the first enrollment in a public school this year, you will need a certified copy of his/her birth certificate and his/her social security card. (Must be 5 years of age on or before August 31st, 2021)
IMMUNIZATION RECORD: The Health Department now requires an appointment for immunizations. Call 704-216-8786 for an appointment immediately. Parents can also have their physician’s office immunize their child for a fee.
HEALTH ASSESSMENT FORM: By North Carolina State Law your child must have a physical assessment and the health assessment form must be completed and signed by a physician within twelve months prior to the first day of school.
MEDICATION FORM: If your child takes daily medication for asthma, seizures, diabetes, etc. or any kind of medication during the year, we must have the medication form completed, signed by a physician and returned to school. You must personally bring medication to the school and pick up medication. We cannot send or receive medication through book bags.
Other Important Information:
TRANSPORTATION: We have staff members on duty throughout the building who will make sure that your child gets from the car or bus to the classroom safely each morning. Please note that after the first 10 days of school parents may not walk their child into the building. This teaches your child responsibility, confidence, and independence! In the afternoons you should pick your child up in the car rider line at dismissal. This prevents disruptions during the school day and is for the safety of your child. NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING AFTER the tardy bell rings (7:30 am) unless they enter through the front office, sign in, and received a visitor’s pass.
***If your child is to go home a different way than normal, you must send a written note to your child’s teacher. Due to safety issues, students will NOT be allowed to be checked out from the office after 2:00 pm daily.
SUPPLIES: Be sure to label EVERYTHING that comes to school with your child such as book bags, coats, jackets, etc. Your child will need to bring a book bag to school every day! Rolling book bags are not allowed because they pose a safety hazard in the halls and do not fit in cubbies.
ABSENCES AND TARDIES: It is very important that your child attend school every day that they healthy. If your child is sick and cannot attend school, we must have a written note explaining the reason for the absence when he/she returns to school. Students need to be at school and in their classroom before the tardy bell rings at 7:30 am. It is also equally important that your child stay in school until dismissal at 2:30 pm. If your child is late or is picked up early, you must sign them in or out at the front office.
Our school day begins at 7:30 am and ends at 2:30 pm.
Please review the information on our website and watch our kindergarten video. If you have additional questions, please call the school office at (704) 857-3111 and someone will be happy to assist you!
