STANDARD MODE OF DRESS

TOPS
- Students are permitted to wear any solid collared knitted polo shirt with short or long sleeves.
- Students will be required to have their shirt tails tucked during the instructional day.
- Solid color sweatshirts are permitted (no hoods)
- On Fridays, students will be permitted to wear their PTA sponsored Hanford-Dole Elementary School shirt. No other shirt with a logo other than one for HDES will be permitted.

BOTTOMS
- All bottoms must be either black, navy blue or khaki pants.
- NO jeans will be allowed.
- NO sagging will be allowed, please wear a belt.
- Girls may wear khaki, navy blue or black skirts or dresses that are knee length.

SHOES
- Students must wear only closed-toe and rubber sole shoes.
- Girls may wear low length, closed-toe heel shoes on the days they do not have PE.
- No shoes with wheels will be permitted. Clogs, saddles, flip flops and slippers are NOT permitted.
- Solid socks and tights that are white, navy blue or black may be worn.

OUTERWEAR
Heavy jackets, coats and hoodies are to be hung in the classroom during the day.

WHY A DRESS CODE?
The main reason fo school uniforms or a Standard Mode of Dress (SMOD) is to:
- Promote a positive, productive and safe learning environment
- Focus directly on academics and positive behavior
- Promote school pride
- Eliminate competition of school dress and minimize peer pressure
